On Thursday the 12th October a shiny ‘new’ TR6 shell arrived back from the paint shop in Stoke-on-Trent, with Chris Redfern on hand to check that it was done to his standards. it does look absolutely gorgeous in its rare and original Mallard Green – which turns to a blue tinted colour when you take it indoors. So here are the pics of the shell undergoing its transformation from fully repaired shell to fully painted shell. Note that it has been fully seam sealed and then stone-chipped underneath. The car is also painted with solid colour, no clear topcoats or anything like that.
The wings, doors, bonnet and boot are all just fitted with maximum gaps for transportation, once the chassis is ready Chris will come and fit the shell to the chassis which has been built to use the standard factory minimum packing pieces for the best shell to chassis fit. We can then start building it up once the two are paired, obviously minus all the bolt-on panels.
Note when looking at the shell that there are no front indicator holes, these have been very carefully removed by letting in shaped steel inserts of the correct metal thickness, and cannot now be seen from either side of the panel. This car will also run without bumpers so I am hoping for a very ‘clean’ look to the car.
Enjoy the photos!
