Throttle Bodies – new design

The throttle bodies meanwhile are also progressing, a significant amount of time gets spent researching how they work and how to design them, but I feel I am nearly there now.  We have printed one out and fitted it up, the biggest problem seems to be with direct to head throttle bodies is that they are not aligned onto a manifold, so the linkage design must be flexible enough to be tuned for some misalignment.  and making it all look period to some degree is another challenge.

However, I am excited by the potential here, the end result will be dimensionally the same as the original, but just designed from the beginning for an EFI setup.  Only the fuel rail will be the big give-away.  I would put the injector ports on the bottom and then hide them all away if it wasn’t for the presence of the exhaust headers in immediate proximity.  So the injectors will remain on top and we will just have to live with the fuel rail being there.

And fitted to the engine:

The next step is to confirm all the ancilliaries and check the exhaust fitment, we can do this with printed parts just to make sure it all fits.  We will have to attach the brake servo and the vent from the rocker cover, as well as all the 6 idle air bleeds.  Trying to keep all the pipework reasonably hidden will be a challenge!
